కుందేలు

చంద్రుడు
ఒకమారు ఒక పురుగును పిలిచి
‘నీవు మానవ
లోకానికి వెళ్లి ఇలా
చెప్పు “నేను చస్తాను! చస్తూ బతుకుతాను.
నేను చస్తే మీరూ చస్తారు.
చస్తూ బ్రతుకుతారు!”’ అని అన్నాడు.
పురుగు బయలుదేరి పోతూ
ఉంది.
అంతలోనే
దానికి దారిలో ఒక కుందేలు
తటస్థపడింది. ‘పురుగా, పురుగా! ఎక్కడికి
ప్రయాణం?’ అంది. ‘ఏం పని మీద వెళుతున్నావు?’ అని మళ్లీ
అడిగింది. ‘నన్ను చంద్రమహారాజు
పంపారు. మానవుల దగ్గరికి
పోతున్నాను. ఆయన మాట ఒకటి
వారికి అందజేయాలి!’ అని విషయం వివరంగా
చెప్పింది పురుగు. ‘నీవు ఏ కాలానికి
మానవలోకానికి చేరడం? నేను త్వరగాపరుగు
తీస్తాను. నేనా సంగతి
అందజేస్తాలే. నీవు తిరిగి
వెళ్లు!’ అని కుందేలు దానితో
చెప్పి, అది సమాధానం చెప్పే
లోపుగానే పరుగు తీసిందట.
కుందేలు
దారిలో తను చెప్పవలసింది
సగం మరిచింది. మానవ లోకం
చేరిన మీదట వారిని కలుసుకుని,
‘చంద్రమహారాజు
నన్ను పంపాడు. “నేను చస్తే చచ్చి
నశిస్తాను. మీరుకూడా
చచ్చి పూర్తిగా నశిస్తారు.” అని చెప్పమన్నాడు’, అని అన్నదట.
తర్వాత చంద్రలోకానికి
తిరిగి వెళ్లి తను మానవులతో
చెప్పిన అన్ని విషయాలు
మనవి చేసిందట.
చంద్రుడు
మహోగ్రుడయ్యాడు. ‘నేను క్రిమికి
అలా చెప్పలేదే? నేను చెప్పని
విషయం ఎలా చెప్పావు? ఎంత సాహసం?’ అని ఒక కర్ర
తీసుకుని కుందేలు మోరమీదికి
విసిరాడు. దాని దెబ్బకు
కుందేలు ముక్కు నడుమకు
తెగింది. అప్పటినుంచే
కుందేళ్ల ముక్కులన్నీ
తెగి ఉన్నాయి. కానీ మనుష్యులు
మాత్రం కుందేలు చెప్పింది
నేటికీ నమ్ముతున్నారు.
Rabbit - Men
Moon called an insect once and said,
“you go to the world of man, and tell thus. ‘I will die. I will live dying. If I die you will also die. You will
live dying.’” The insect set on the journey and was going.
Soon a Rabbit accosted it. “Oh!
Insect where are you going?” it said. It again asked “On what errand are you going?” “King Moon has
sent me. I am going to the man world. I have to convey his message to them.” The insect narrated the matter in detail.
“When do you reach man’s world? I can run fast. I will deliver the message to them. You go back!” said the
rabbit and even before it could answer fled away.
On the way Rabbit forgot the detail
of the message. On reaching man’s world, it met them and said, ‘King Moon sent me. He asked me to tell, “I
will die and thus I perish. You will also die and totally perish.”’ It went back to the moon world and narrated
the message that it gave to the men.
Moon
was very angry. “I did not tell the insect like that! How can you tell something that I did not tell? How dare?”
saying so, he threw a stick on to the face of the rabbit. Rabbit’s nose was slit into the middle. Since then only rabbits
have a slit nose. But, people however still believe what the rabbit told them.
సూర్యుడూ
చంద్రుడూ
చాలా కాలం క్రితం
సూర్యుడూ నీళ్లూ పరమ
మిత్రులు. ఇద్దరూ భూమి
మీదే ఇరుగుపొరుగున ఉండేవారు.
సూర్యుడు నీటి వద్దకు తరుచు వచ్చేవాడు.
కానీ, నీరు మాత్రం సూర్యుని
వద్దకు వెళ్లేది కాదు.
ఇలా ఉండగా
ఒకనాడు సూర్యుడు నీటిని
అడిగాడు ‘మా యింటికి ఎందుకు
రావు?’ అని. ‘నీ యిల్లు పెద్దది
కాదు. నా పరివారమంతా వస్తే
చోటు ఉండదు. మేమంతా రావాలంటే,
నీవు పెద్ద ఆవరణగల భవనం
కట్టు. మా వారందరికీ దానిలో
చోటు ఏర్పాటు
చేయి!’ అని నీరు సమాధానమిచ్చింది.
ఆ మాట విని సూర్యుడు
ఇంటికి వచ్చాడు. భార్య
చంద్రమ్మ నవ్వుతూ తలుపు
తీసింది. సూర్యుడు ఆమెతో,
తన మిత్రుడు నీళ్లు
చేసిన వాగ్దానం సంగతి
చెప్పాడు. ఆమె సరేనన్నది.
మరునాటినుంచి ఇల్లు కట్టడం
ప్రారంభించారు ఇద్దరూ.
ఇల్లు ముగియగానే నీటిని
ఆహ్వానించారు.
నీరు పరివారంతో
వచ్చి, ‘నేను నీ యింట్లోకి
రావచ్చా? ఇల్లు భద్రంగా
ఉంటుందా?’ అని ప్రశ్నించింది
సూర్య చంద్రుల్ని
‘రావచ్చు మిత్రమా!
భయమేమీ లేదు!’ అన్నారు
ఇద్దరూ. అప్పుడు నీరు
సకల జలచరాలతోబాటు, లోపలికి
ప్రవహించింది
త్వరలో ఇల్లంతా
మోకాటి బంటి నీరయ్యింది.
‘ఇంకా
యిల్లు భద్రమేనా? మరికొంతమంది
మావారు రావచ్చా?’ అని
అడిగింది
నీరు. ‘ఓ అలాగే’
అన్నారు సూర్య చంద్రులు.
నీరు మరి కొంత ప్రవహించింది.
ఇల్లంతా తలబంటి నీరు
నిలిచింది. ‘ఇంకా నావారు
రావాలంటారా?’
అని అడిగింది నీరు. ‘సరే’
అన్నారు సూర్య చంద్రులు.
మరేమీ తోచక నీరు మరింత
జోరుగా ప్రవహించింది.
సూర్య చంద్రులిద్దరూ
ఇంటి కప్పుపై తేలాడేటంత
నీరు నిండింది. మరల నీరు
అడుగగా, సూర్య చంద్రులిద్దరూ
అదే సమాధానమిచ్చారు.
నీరు ప్రచండ
వేగంతో పారింది. సూర్య
చంద్రులిద్దరూ గత్యంతరం
లేక ఆకాశంలో ఉండి పోయారు.
Sun and water
Long
ago sun and water were very good friends. They lived as neighbours on the earth only. Sun used
to visit water frequently, but water seldom visited Sun.
On one of the days, Sun asked water, “Why
don’t you visit us?” “Your home is not big enough. If all my party comes
there wouldn’t be enough places. If all of us have to come, you must construct a big house with a lot of place. Arrange place for
all of us!” said water.
Listening that Sun came home. Wife Moon opened the
door with a smile. Sun told her the word of water. She said right. Together they started constructing
a house from the next day. As the work finished they invited water.
Water came with the entire retinue and said
“can I enter your house? Will it be safe?”
“ Oh! Friend! You can come. No fear at all!”
Said both of them. Then the water flewin with all its aquatic life.
Soon the house was filled with water up to the knees. “Is the house secure enough?
Can some more people come in?” asked
the water.
“Oh! Yes!” said Sun and Moon. Some more
water flew in. It reached the head level. “You feel some more of my team can come?”
asked water.
Sun and Moon said “Yes” Unable to think,
water flew in heavily. Sun and Moon were floating on the roof. Water asked again and Sun and Moon gave the same answer.
Water flew with heavy speed. Not finding
an alternative, Sun and Moon remained in the sky!
